Review of Mahabis Curve Slippers: Best Work From Home Slippers

by The Twins April 8, 2024
written by The Twins April 8, 2024

Our review of Mahabis Curve Slippers includes gifted items and affiliate links. This means we may make a small commission if you were to buy a Mahabis product.

In 2018, we were delighted to be gifted our first pair of Mahabis slippers.

The slippers soon became a staple of our everyday lives and we quickly discovered how brilliant they were for travel. Durable, long-lasting and thoughtfully designed, our Mahabis slippers followed us around the world and back again.

Fast forward to 2024, and when Mahabis approached us again – this time to see if we would like to trial the Mahabis Curve slippers – we jumped at the chance. As a brand that values design as much as sustainability, we couldn’t be happier to share our review of the Mahabis Curve slippers.

Below are our thoughts on whether the Mahabis Curve are really worth the price tag, and our verdict on whether these are the best work-from-home slippers.

Who are Mahabis?

For many of you, Mahabis might already be a familiar name.

In 2014, the brand’s innovative take on the humble slipper took the loungewear market by storm. Dedicating themselves to leading the evolution of the trusted slipper, Mahabis exchanged fleece and tartan for features that were a bit more modern – a bit more useful.

The result was a minimalist, versatile and unbelievably comfortable take on our nation’s beloved slipper.

The era of Slipper 2.0 had begun.

Based in London, but inspired by all that is Scandinavian, Mahabis success has raged on as they’ve brought out model after model, including: Morzine Leather, Meribel Shearling, Verbier Suede, and the Curve Slipper.

Review of Mahabis Curve Slippers

Since we began wearing our Mahabis slippers back in 2018, our lives have changed quite dramatically.

Although we are still travel lovers, a pandemic and a child (each) has meant that we now spend a lot more time at home. As such, our ‘slipper needs’ (is that a phrase?) have also changed.

More than ever, our tired feet need warmth, comfort and support.

The Mahabis Curve Slippers tick all of the above boxes and we were genuinely excited to be putting our feet into a brand new pair of Mahabis slippers at the start of this year.

Below is our honest review of the Mahabis Curve Slippers. Are these really the best slippers for working from home and running around after small children?

We think so.

Symprove Review: Is It Worth It? (2023)

What’s the difference between the Mahabis Curve and the Mahabis Classic Slipper?

Sustainable

The Mahabis Curve Slippers are an eco-friendly take on the classic Mahabis Classic slipper; something that has become increasingly important to us over the years.

The Mahabis Curve Slippers are made from Italian felt, using recycled wool for the upper part of the slipper, and a 100% organic wool lining for the inside. The sole of the Curve is also made from natural rubber (unlike the Classic).

Style and Support

The style and support offered in both the Mahabis Classic and the Mahabis Curve is pretty similar. Both offer the genius neoprene heel cradle, which helps to keep your foot in place and supports your feet as you go up the stairs. As the mother of a 3 year old, foot support has become an unlikely preoccupation of mine; having hurt my ankles from first bobbing a baby to sleep, and then carrying an increasingly heavy toddler around.

Both models also offer the iconic contoured foam in-sock that provides fantastic arch support.

The curve does offer one design feature, however, that the Classic does not and that’s an anti-scuff design at the front of the slipper. Not only keeping the slipper cleaner, this design will help  with the lifespan of the slippers; leaving them less vulnerable to everyday wear and tear.

As I wear the slippers outdoors in the garden a lot, I think the anti-scuff element makes the slippers more durable for outside wear (although perhaps the thicker sole makes them slightly less aesthetically pleasing).

Colours of the Mahabis Curve vs. Mahabis Classic Slippers

Leading on from this point, one thing I think the Mahabis Curve lack, compared with the Mahabis Classic, are more ‘understated’ colourways.

Currently, the Mahabis Curve only offer the two-way colour style, with a coloured heel and different colour slipper. Personally, I would love to see some more understated colour offerings, similar to the Classic, i.e. one colour across the whole slipper, and some more neutral tones.

Although I don’t think you can beat the comfort of the Mahabis Curve slipper, I have definitely seen more aesthetically pleasing slippers in terms of colour. Perhaps in the future, more neutral tones will be rolled out for the Curve.

Differences Between the Various Styles of Mahabis Slippers

Below is a handy round-up of the other differing features across the Mahabis slipper range.

How Much Do Mahabis Curve Slippers Cost?

The Mahabis Curve Slippers are priced at £119 – so £20 more expensive than the Classic Mahabis Slipper (although some current colours are on offer for just £59).

Given the fact you are buying a far more sustainable product, we would definitely say it would be worth paying this additional cost.

Since working with Mahabis in 2018, we were delighted to hear that their commitment to sustainability has only continued to develop. For example, for every pair of Mahabis Slippers bought, Mahabis will plant a tree on your behalf. To date, the brand have now planted over 116,000 trees and continue to offset their own team’s personal and professional carbon emissions.

For the reasons above, we would be more than happy to invest in a pricier product that not only lasts, but also challenges the sustainability issues surrounding clothing and shoe production.

Can You Put the Mahabis Curve Slippers in the Washing Machine?

In my opinion, one of the best things about the Mahabis Curve Slippers is that you can put them in the washing machine.

As someone who chucks their shoes in the washing at least twice a month, thanks to endless petting farms, sticky toddler fingers and muddy parks, being able to wash my shoes has become an odd obsession of mine.

In fact, I have already put my Mahabis Curve slippers in the wash and, much to my delight, they came out looking like new.

Are the Mahabis Curve Slippers the Best Work from Home Slippers?

As someone who has swapped back-to-back travel with plenty of time in front of my computer (or shuffling around the house cleaning up after my daughter), keeping warm and comfortable is now my top priority.

Oh, how times have changed.

Throw in a cost-of-living crisis and rocketing fuel payments, keeping warm in my house has become quite the challenge. A good quality pair of work from home slippers has therefore been a priority and the Mahabis Curve have delivered on all fronts.

I’ve found that I’m generally far warmer when I wear the slippers, and my feet (which suffer with terrible circulation) stay warm and cosy, even if I’m working at my desk for long hours. I also appreciate how easy they are to nip outside in if necessary, without the hassle of having to change shoes.

I happily head out to drop and collect Olive from nursery in the slippers.

My only query is how hot they might be in summer, with the inner wool lining – but this is something I’ll report back on once we head out of winter.

Are the Mahabis Curve Slippers True to Size?

Mahabis suggest that if you have wide feet or are in between sizes, then you should size up when it comes to their slippers.

As a size 5.5, I did this and found that the size 6 feels just right. As someone with unusually narrow feet, I can often find that slippers hang off my feet; offering very little support to my knobbly ankles.

The Mahabis Curve slippers, however, support my feet perfectly, whilst keeping them warm and comfortable.

A Review of Mahabis Curve Slippers: Are They Worth the Price Tag?

After seven years of wearing various styles of Mahabis Slippers, I can confirm the Mahabis Curve have been the best yet in terms of comfort and durability.

At £119,  these certainly aren’t a cheap pair of slippers, but I truly believe in the well known phrase: ‘you get what you pay for.’

Eco-conscious, sustainable and built to last, I fully expect the Mahabis Curve slippers to be a feature of my everyday life for years to come.

Mahabis slippers are not cheaply made, nor are they fluffy monstrosities. They do not represent fast fashion, or that ‘buy now, throw later’ mentality.

Instead, Mahabis slippers are carefully crafted, ergonomically designed triumphs: ready to be worn time after time, year after year. The Mahabis Curve slippers not only keep my feet comfortable working from home or looking after my 3 year old, but help  me to feel that little bit more sustainably-minded when it comes to the products I buy.

They are, in my eyes, the superstars of the slipper world – and a brand I would be more than happy to invest in far into the future.
