Honest Review of Seaside Los Jameos Refurbishment

by The Twins November 10, 2025
written by The Twins November 10, 2025

We recently returned from the incredible Seaside Los Jameos in Puerto del Carmen to see how the hotel has improved since its huge refurbishment over the summer of 2025.

Having visited in September 2024, we were so excited to see what Seaside Los Jameos now has to offer. This is a really special hotel to us and our 4-year-olds and we’re pleased to say that the new refurbishment (and what’s still to come!) didn’t disappoint.

Below is a round-up on everything you need to know about the Seaside Los Jameos refurbishment and whether we think it’s worth the (new!) price tag.

When does the refurbishment at Los Jameos finish?

The full refurbishment of Seaside los Jameos is due to be completed by December 2025. When we visited at the end of October, there was plenty still being worked on but nothing that disrupted our stay. I actually found it quite exciting being able to see all the changes that were happening, and as we left they were just opening up the new salon and nail bar.

11 BEST Things to do in Lanzarote with Kids (2025)

What’s the new kids’ area like at Seaside Los Jameos?

Although following the refurbishment at Seaside Los Jameos with great interest, we had no idea there was a brand new kids area until we arrived. Rounding the corner to where the tennis courts used to be, we were greeted with a pastel coloured paradise, including a huge new swimming pool, 3 slides, a colourful new playground and a splash and play park for smaller kids.

I honestly don’t know who was more excited to see this – us adults or the kids.

Although we found the other 3 pools on the site brilliant last year, it was so nice having an area dedicated to kids. There’s a huge new area for sun loungers, and it’s ideal for being able to move between the new pool, park and splash park. Although not opened yet on our visit, a new Kids Kiosk also opening in the new kids area. This will be a great addition and will hopefully bring an easy alternative for grabbing a snack or drink for the kids in between meal times.

We based ourselves in the new kids area for most of the week during our stay but also enjoyed the original pools too. This is mainly as the new kids pool doesn’t have a shallow end for smaller kids, so it was nice being able to relax in the other pools while Olive and Henry were able to splash around without any worry.

Kids Club at Seaside Los Jameos

In other exciting developments, the Kids’ Club has also had a big refurbishment and is now located in the new kids’ area. It’s now in a far bigger, spacious building by the kids’ pool and is beautifully decorated inside. Unfortunately, we have the type of children who refuse to go to kids’ club so I can’t comment on the experience but I saw plenty of happy faces coming and going.

The timetable looked brilliant, with plenty of activities going on inside but also trips to the beach or activities in the pool. A new restaurant (more on this below) is currently being built on the site of the old kids’ club and playground.

Other Pools at Seaside los Jameos

The 3 main pools at Seaside los Jameos remain but the two heated pools are now joined together with a waterfall in the middle. This makes moving around the pool so much easier and it was great having easy access to two shallow ends for the kids.

Games Room

According to Los Jameos’ website, a new games room is coming but work hadn’t started when we visited. This was a bit disappointing because the visualisations of the new games room look incredible but it just gives us another reason to visit again next year. For now, Olive and Henry were more than happy to be back in the games room, playing on their favourite games and winning prizes.

What are the newly refurbished rooms at Seaside Los Jameos like?

During our visit, we stayed in one of the newly refurbished junior suites. This room was situated in the main building, which was a real treat as we were in one of the outer blocks last year. I was so impressed by the refurbishment of the junior suites and felt like it added a whole new layer of luxury to our stay at Seaside Los Jameos.

Walking in, we were greeted with a bright, breezy room with a large double bed, a sofa bed (which we used for our 4-year old), huge new wardrobe space, and a beautifully refurbished bathroom. The bathroom was actually my favourite part of the room, with a brand-new bath and shower, huge mirror, beautiful soft light touches and so much storage space under the sink.

All rooms at the hotel are due to be refurbished by December 2025. While we were visiting, I did have a peak in at a newly refurbished room, with an adjoining door for large space for families. This looked ideal, meaning you can enjoy your own space, with the kids safely next door but still linked to you.

What restaurants does Seaside los Jameos have?

The main all-inclusive restaurant has had a major glow-up since we visited last year. The outside area has been transformed, with brand new food serving stations and beautiful new booth seating area, located by the pond.

restaurants seaside los jameos

As a large group, we were able to reserve an outside table for lunch and dinner most days. I was pleased about this as we were visiting during half-term, which was (as expected) far busier than our last visit.

I do think they could do a little more with the inside restaurant to add a bit more ambience. I think it’s lacking a restaurant feel and can feel more like a canteen during really busy times. It will be interesting to see if that changes over time as guests are most dispersed between the original eatery and the new Spanish restaurant.

I can confirm that the food is as brilliant as always at Los Jameos and we dined like kings and queens during our stay. It was ideal for the kids, who absolutely loved the new kids buffet offering (which made it also far less daunting when finding their food!)

What I love most about the food at Los Jameos is you can eat incredibly healthy there (if you wish!) and I adored having a fresh grilled fish everyday and stocking up on the incredible array of salads and sides.

During the renovations, the smaller bar by the restaurant has gone but the Bellingo Bar and the Piano bar remain, as well as the main pool bar. And fear not, the daily crepes are still served up from 3pm outside the Bellingo bar.

What’s still to come?

There’s still some exciting new additions to come to the resort by December 2025. These extra eateries are (I believe) much needed during peak season and will provide a brilliant array of choices not only at meal time but for snacks during the day.

1. “Milk Lab” Bar

The Milk Lab Bar is probably what we’re most excited about seeing on our next visit. This bar is due to serve up sweet treats such as custard shakes, homemade lemonades and (thankfully for parents) healthy snacks.

2. Arroz y Fuego Restaurant

The new Spanish restaurant is due to open in December. The restaurant will serve up Spanish focused cuisine including paella and tapas – which I’m particularly excited about. I think this will add that “restaurant feel” that’s lacking a bit at Los Jameos, perhaps making it feel more like a proper sit down meal rather than the all-inclusive buffet.

3. Pepe’s Shack (kids’ zone kiosk)

The new kids’ shack was being worked on while we were staying and will be ideal for parents in grabbing drinks/snacks during the daytime.

Spa and Wellness at Seaside Los Jameos

During our stay, we were able to see a few of the newly refurbished aspects of the spa and wellness area at Seaside Los Jameos. I enjoyed one of the best treatments of my life during that visit and I also treated my daughter to a ‘Little Princess’ manicure and polish, which she absolutely adored.

On the day we left, we saw the grand reveal of the new hair and nail salon, which looked brilliant and I’d definitely be using both services on my next visit. The gym is due to be refurbished but hasn’t happened yet and the spa is also currently undergoing an upgrade (a lot of it was cornered off during our visit).

Is Seaside Los Jameos worth the price tag?

I’ve seen lots of discussions online about the refurbishment of Seaside los Jameos and the subsequent price hike that has gone with it. Although it is certainly not a budget option, particularly for a family holiday to Lanzarote, I think the refurbishment warrants the price increase.

Los Jameos is set as a 4* hotel but I’ve stayed in many 5* family based hotels that are no where near the standard of Los Jameos. Not only are the facilities incredible but the service is second to none. Everything runs to time, there’s always staff on hand to support you and the facilities (refurbed or not) feel clean, fresh and well maintained.

You feel like an old-friend of the resort when visiting, with staff taking the time to get to know you and checking in regularly that you’re enjoying your holiday. I think this is what sets Los Jameos apart from other hotels and keeps people coming back year after year. We’ve met people at the hotel that are on their 18th trip, which speaks volumes for their experience of Seaside los Jameos.

It may have taken longer than expected but the refurbishment of Seaside los Jameos is worth the wait. We finished our week full of so many new memories, and (rarely achieved during a family holiday with kids) feeling rested and reset.

We can’t wait to come back already.
